Friday marks a new beginning. Friday is when the raft arrives and I officially graduate into adulthood with my first full sized fishing raft. A purchase of this magnitude means new precautions need to be taken in storage, and without the assistance of affordable professional labor we are left with only one option.
After searching YouTube and other internet sites I set off and purchased the required materials. The first step is always to layout and set your posts. This requires precision and detail, two things that I have always struggled with. In order to overcome my shortcomings I solicited help from a professional human with a self proclaimed IQ “just north of 103”.
While the help was appreciated, my colleague is suffering from a strained back, and could offer no physical assistance in either the digging or the mixing. Before we rush to judge let us remember that anyone can dig, it takes the brains to make the project bloom. My assistant proved to be vital, keeping us in line and plumb while tirelessly exerting himself in the hot summer sun.
As the sun was setting we had an opportunity to admire our handy work. With the concrete setting for a few hours we checked our plumb one last time…spot on. I now await the completion of the curing process, where phase 2 begins and the fence will morph into a theft deterrent structure that will theoretically be more secure than Clinton Correctional, or so we hope…
