It has been a long time since I have worked on my streamer box. My goal is to dial it in this winter but for now a few extra flies should suffice for the fall. I have always been a fan of John Barr’s Bouface pattern. This pattern slims down in the water to provide a unique action and it is extremely quick and easy to tie.
With that in mind I picked up a few supplies and got to tying. I got “oodles” of them done, most of them with the traditional marabou collar but on a few I used squirrel strips to palmer a collar.
Either way I think this is a great pattern that is often forgotten about. I personally think this fly is great in stillwater or as a dropper behind another streamer. It isn’t very heavy so putting a heavier streamer in front helps get the Bouface down in faster currents. I always have some in black, white, olive, orange, and chartreuse. Tying instructions below.
